Kevin and Camilla: A Dream Farm-to-Table Celebration

Why They Chose Frutig Farms

According to Camilla and Kevin:

  • Supportive team: Owners Ed and Kelly are hands-on, flexible, and the whole team makes the planning process feel personal and stress-free.

  • Meaningful location: Having the ceremony at the nearby church where Kevin’s parents were married makes it feel like a “full-circle moment” for our own wedding.

  • Close to home: As busy medical residents, staying in Ann Arbor makes planning and coordination much easier.

  • Local connections: Frutig Farms’ Wedding Expo and vendor suggestions, like Eve from Frita Batidos, make this wedding feel uniquely ours.

A Real Wedding Story

Kevin and Camilla’s love story began in med school, blossomed over homemade pizza dates, and led to a surprise proposal in Rome. But when it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted something that felt deeply personal and meaningful. That’s what brought them to Frutig Farms.

A Full Circle Moment in Ann Arbor

For this couple, Ann Arbor wasn’t just home, it was part of their story. Kevin’s parents were married at the same church they chose, and after years of long-distance during their medical residencies, Ann Arbor was finally where they could be together.

Frutig Farms felt like a full circle moment,” said Camilla. “It just felt right.

Though they looked at other venues in Detroit and scenic spots near Traverse City, they kept coming back to Frutig Farms. The beautiful setting, helpful planning support, and location close to home made it the perfect fit.

Farm-to-Table Flavor and Flexibility

Camilla and Kevin both love good food and they wanted their wedding menu to reflect that. They are working with Chef Eve from Frita Batidos, who is excited to bring their farm-to-table vision to life. She is curating a seasonal menu using fresh ingredients from the farmers market that she will pick up the same week of the wedding.

“Chef Eve is amazing,” said Camilla. “She went back and forth with us so many times to get the menu just right, and even created delicious vegan options for my parents.”

They enjoyed the experience so much that they hired Frita Batidos again to cater their rehearsal dinner (held in the historic Upper Barn at Frutig Farms) with a completely different Cuban-inspired menu. One venue, two totally different meals. Simple, seamless, and totally them.

Planning Made Easy (and Fun)

Planning a wedding while both working through busy medical residencies could have been overwhelming, but Frutig Farms made it easy. Kevin and Camilla loved meeting with the owners, Ed and Kelly, and appreciated how approachable and flexible they were.

Even dropping off payments was easy,” Kevin said. “Kelly told us to just drop it off on the kitchen counter. It felt so relaxed and invniting.

That homey, welcoming vibe carried through every step of the process, from meetings around the kitchen table to seeing the dogs greet them at the house.

Personal Touches and Meaningful Vendors

The couple was intentional about choosing vendors who felt aligned with their style. They’re even doing their own florals using a bulk order from Trader Joe’s (a smart tip for couples with a creative streak and a budget in mind).

Staying Grounded in What Matters

Despite all the moving pieces, Kevin and Camilla never lost sight of why they were getting married. Their advice to other couples?

Remember why you’re getting married,” Camilla said. “Focus on your partner.”

Kevin added, “At the end of the day, I get to marry my best friend. That’s what this is all about.
